Update from the Commodore

September 2, 2011 under Club News

September will be another busy month for the club – details as follows:

Club Work Day Saturday 17th September

We also have a Work Day planned for Saturday 17th during the day to progress general maintenance in and around the club house and also include a social element with lunch and perhaps an early evening bar. The main tasks identified so far:
1. Complete varnishing and staining of windowsills in Clubhouse (and replace curtains when dry)
2. Replace antennae for VHF and Wind instruments at club
3. Finishing details in toilets (seats, bins, etc)
4. Fence repairs
5. Finish external painting of balcony and woodwork
6. Scrape and paint boat hoist
7. Clean out dinghy store
All help welcome!

RNLI Supper Saturday 24th

You have received a message from Phil about the RNLI supper on Saturday 24th, which promises to be a successful and enjoyable night. I would urge everyone to support it as a gesture of thanks to the local rescue services.

Sailing Events

We also have two sailing events in the programme:

Sunday 11th 1400 Whitbread Tankard Race
Saturday 24th 1300 RNLI Pennant
Hopefully we can get a good turn out for both these races

24th September

September 1, 2011 under Social

On our social calendar we have an event listed called the RNLI evening.  The committee decided last night that we would have a social get together to thank the services that protect us at sea such as the Lifeboat crew, Boulmer helicopter crew, MCA and at the same time invite some of our neighbours The Amble Boat Club & The Warkworth Harbour Authority .

The cost of the event will be borne by profits that we have made in the “catering department” plus all CYC members will pay for their food on the evening.  I am also looking for “sponsors” for the evening.  TrackaPhone will put in £50.00 so would there be any other sponsors, individuals or companies/organisations,  that would be interested?

The committee feel that this event would be of great benefit to the club.

I think I can get enough musicians to make up a reasonable band.

Could I have a show of hands please as to who would be attending, willing to help, sponsor or any other suggestions (clean ones) as to who we should invite.

Regards

Phil Derry
